Shingle House

The owners’ vision was a homestead for this Martha’s Vineyard shingle house in Massachusetts that was handed down from generation to generation, with hopes of incorporating the best features of shingle style homes. Traditional New England architecture elements such as the gambrel roof water table were used in a classic New England home design arrangement, allowing the house to appear unchanging. Intuitive, straightforward shingle style house plans connect family spaces with expansive openings of glass encouraging outside interaction. These areas connect to a screened wing breakfast room connecting the home to the pool. A New England decorating style is also adopted.

The shingle style house enjoys views in every direction from Edgerton Bay of rare expanses of farmland ideal for New England style homes.
